Now THIS is why we came to London – the land where you can see lots of great bands that by and large rarely if ever think about Australia, let alone tour there.
I have tickets for the following:
December: Porcupine Tree, supported by Robert Fripp (of King Crimson fame). A big Simpson’s “Ha Ha” to my brother Eric who leaves the UK about 2 weeks before this gig…
March: Jethro Tull and The Black Crowes
May: Eric Clapton
My concert ticket budget for the next little while is completely shot, but I am a very, very happy man.
On Friday night, I was on the train coming home from work. Opposite me there was an Englishman, and American and and Australian (and no, this isn’t the beginning of a bad joke)…
From the conversation I could overhear I worked out that these three worked for different branches of the same company and were in London for some mega conference. They were all talking about their various experiences and it emerged that the Australian guy had been living in London with his wife for a few months. One of his colleagues asked him “So what do you miss most about Australia?”.. Without blinking the Aussie bloke replied “It would have to be kabana.”
He then went on to explain to his colleagues exactly what kabana sausage was. My natural instinct was to burst out laughing, an instinct I fought with every fibre of my being.. Of all the things to miss.. Oh well, I suppose someone might well be writing about me on their blog, laughing about the bloke on the train who said he really missed decent souvlaki.
