July 20th, 2009 by brian No comments »Hi everyone – it has been a while. No idea why my feed program decided to re-spit out a post from January last week. Sorry about that – but it did remind me that I’ve been a little slack on the writing front – so here I am..
I’ve now been back in AU for 8 months now – frightening really. My new job has been quite full on – since January I have visited Hong Kong, Singapore, India (Delhi), Korea (Seoul), China (Shenzhen) and Taiwan (Taipei) for work. Some great experiences there – business is conducted very differently in Asia-Pacific relative to Europe. Understatement of the year, I know.. The learning curve has been very steep but am enjoying the challenge.
I miss Europe – of course I do – who wouldn’t? (Big hello to any EUMEA people reading this) But there’s a lot of exciting stuff going on here in Melbourne which has made the homecoming really enjoyable. It has been great to see a lot more of friends and family than I had over the previous 3.5 years – although I do feel quite behind on catching up with a large number of people.
Whenever I review what I’ve been listening to on my ipod I’m constantly amazed at what turns up on the list of most listened tracks. The list below is reflective of the last 8-9 months. As always I’m surprised by the artists that DO NOT appear on the list.. many of my so-called favorites are simply not getting much of a listen these days.

May 17th, 2009 by brian No comments »I’ve just landed in Delhi, India where I’ll be the next 4 days – for work.. It’s 4am and a balmy 34 degrees.. I’m expecting it to be 42-44 degrees during the day while I’m here.. Let’s see how I hold up.
Carb overload
April 6th, 2009 by brian No comments »Am in the Hong Kong office – where we just had lunch in house for one of the staff member’s birthday.
Would you be surprised to hear that we had… wait for it…. Chinese..
The interesting thing was – of the 10 or so dishes on the table – pretty much all of them were heavily rice or noodle based.. (Different to my usual expectation of a Chinese meal – order a few meat or vege based dishes – and have rice / noodles as the accompaniment.) It was quite nice – but a bit of carb overload if you ask me.
My Cantonese is somewhere between lousy and non-existant.. I used all my A-material over lunch today.. Am going to have to learn some more..
